We Are Unique

Our member-driven choir collective

• We are a completely member driven choir. All decisions on repertoire, mission, organizational structure , policies and procedures, and performances are made at the member level. Rather than having an artistic director or committee to pick the music, our members bring in their own songs, many of which are from their own cultural backgrounds, ensuring diversity of language, style, genre and cultural elements in the music itself.
• We are a choir "collective". We are able to perform 25 concerts a year because we perform as smaller subsets of the choir, so that no single member has to shoulder too much work.
• Members can decide their own performance schedule, by choosing only the performances they are able to perform in.
• We are an incredibly diverse choir in terms of racial and ethnic groups, sexual orientations, religions, ages and other important aspects of diversity represented.
• We advertise for members in many communities with materials printed in many different languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Tagalog, and others. We maintain our commitment to diversity in many ways, including advertising for new members, performing for organizations representing various communities, and recruitment efforts for leadership and committee positions.
• All our songs contain positive messages of healing, growth, personal reflection, hope, peace, and love.
